Wearable Technology (Wearablles)

Wearable technology is a smart electronic device that can be worn on the body as an accessory. Advances in mobile computing have made is such that computers are small enough that they can be worn on the body. The Apple Watch and Fitbit are such examples of wearable technology and augmented reality glasses such as Google Glass would also be classified as such. The early experiments with this type technology in retail have mostly been around convenient & frictionless methods of payment. There have also been experiments with applications which assist the consumer with shopping related tasks. The first wave of wearable technology is still rather restricted but as we see further miniaturisation of technology, we are sure to see this technology hit the mainstream in the next 5 years and can expect some mainstream adoption within retail.
