Lockers are used by customers to retrieve orders they have made. The customer picks up an order by entering a pick-up code into the locker bank which then automatically unlocks the door containing the order. The lockers are connected to the internet and integrated with the order management & fulfilment systems operated by the retailer. The technology has become very prominent in large metropolitan areas with heavy footfall such as train stations.
